New Yoga Jewelry at Jewelhappy

Namaste! In celebration of my upcoming teacher training, Jewelhappy has just added new yoga jewelry to the site.

Swarovski crystals in all the colors of the chakras have been wrapped in sterling silver wire to create "Align the Chakra" earrings. These look really nice with a simple black dress and have proven to be a great conversation piece.

Swarovski crystals and sterling silver letter beads spell Namaste, in a necklace, that is! This is versatile enough to wear on your mat or out on the town. Here I am wearing mine in Utthita Parvakonasana.

Do you sense a theme here? Swarovski crystals in all the chakra colors and an Om charm dress up this yoga anklet. You'll be sure to sparkle in this!

So be sure to send your yoga friends to the site, and maybe treat yourself to one of these. Namaste!

The greatest Sample Sale location in NYC

Not that I get to go there too often since I moved to Charleston, but anyone in NYC should be sure to check out Clothingline for designer clothing at up to 90% off retail price!!!

When I lived in New York I used to visit this store every week when I could! That's because every week they have a different designer sample sale. Some of my favorites are Diesel, Betsey Johnson, Buzz by Jane Fox, Rebecca Taylor, Theory, etc. If you go on the web site you can see what they have this week and what's coming up next week.

Insider's tip: If you can wait until the end of the week to do your shopping, the prices are usually lower since each sale lasts only one week. So wait until Friday if you can and chances are you'll score some really good deals! Also, try not to go at lunchtime since you might end up waiting in line if the sale's really good. Go in the morning or mid-afternoon to beat the crowds.

Happy shopping!

Yogitoes - my favorite yoga towel

About a year and a half ago I was working on my down dog, really pushing my hands into the floor and stretching my spine up. The problem was I was taking a lot of Hot Vinyasa Baron Baptiste-style classes, and there was so much sweat on my mat that I just kept slipping out of the pose. My hands would fly forward and I'd end up shortening my stance just so I wouldn't slip. I tried a new sticky mat, a hand towel, a beach towel, nothing worked. Finally my favorite yoga teacher in the world, Paige Elenson, lent me her Yogitoes to try and since then my yoga practice has improved ridiculously. I can't believe it's all because of a towel!
This towel is the size of your yoga mat and has nubs on one side that prevent it from slipping. It works best when you're sweaty, perfect for hot yoga classes. I've used it in Bikram and Hot Flow classes, and I absolutely love it. I've encouraged the yoga studios here in Charleston to carry it, and everyone who's tried it loves it. Anyway, the reason for this post is that Yogitoes recently came out with towels in all the colors of the chakras! I've just ordered my orange one and can't wait until it arrives!
